Video has emerged online of police surrounding the vehicle as it attempts to drive up a grass bank

The father of a west Belfast boy on the heart transplant waiting list, say they are relieved his stolen wheelchair was recovered by police.

Daithi Mac Gabhann's wheelchair and the family's Christmas presents were among items in the family car taken from their Whitecliff Crescent home in the early hours of yesterday.

The family is well-known for campaigning for increased organ donation.

Daithis's Law was passed in his name in 2023, with the number of donors jumping since then.

His father Mairtin says the wheelchair is vital as the little boy can't go anywhere without it.
Police have since made three arrests and recovered the stolen vehicle at a shopping centre on the Falls Rd after the driver attempted to flee, damaging the car and two police vehicles.

Video has emerged online of police surrounding the vehicle as it attempts to drive up a grass bank.

The driver is pepper-sprayed and a man and woman pulled  from the silver Skoda Estate car in the carpark of the Kennedy Centre.

A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary and a number of driving-related offences.

Two women aged 35 and 43 have been arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods.
